Move The Crowd

End of hiphop webtoon ‘Move The Crowd’, remake planned

Due to several circumstances, popular hiphop webtoon ‘Move The Crowd’ has come to a sudden end. Read on to find out why, as well as details about a remake.

Instead of the 26th chapter, the webtoon has been updated with an announcement this week. Due to monetary reasons (Naver Comics did not make ‘Move The Crowd’ an official webtoon, thus the authors are not earning any money) and health reasons (illustrator T-Rex has been working until exhaustion to finish each chapter within a week and is now experiencing health problems), the 25th chapter is the last.
Klassik and T-Rex had originally planned to work together for 20 chapters, so they have already exceeded that agreement. Klassik thanks T-Rex for working on those five additional chapters despite the situation, and says that was possible thanks to the readers’ encouragement and support.
Klassik had been hoping to remake the webtoon anyway, if Naver had proposed to make it an official webtoon which unfortunately did not happen, since he had been dissatisfied with the story’s initial progress. Now that T-Rex is leaving, the story cannot go on with completely different illustrations, so Klassik has decided to remake it from skratch. In the remake, the characters will be the same but the storyline will be very different.
After recovering his health, T-Rex will work on another webtoon. You can keep up to date with him via his Instagram, and if you’d like to know when ‘Move The Crowd’s remake is coming, Klassik’s Instagram is what you want to check.

The authors both apologize for the sudden end. Fans have shown their support in the comments, saying that they will wait for the remake, wishing T-Rex a speedy recovery, and some blaming Naver for not making ‘Move The Crowd’ an official webtoon.

[Recap] Move The Crowd – Chapter 21

Read my recap of hiphop webtoon Move The Crowd’s twenty-first chapter.

[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h1″ looks_like=”h4″]익명성 (3) (Anonymity (3))[/x_custom_headline]

The girl who approached Doosik offers to buy him food, an offer our main character cannot turn down. The girl says she once had something going on with Lee Youngsoo but is through with him now. She tells Doosik to buy drinks since she bought food so the two go for drinks and she asks Doosik lots of questions about why he came to Korea. Doosik replies enthusiastically and even invites her to his upcoming performance. As it gets late, the girls asks Doosik to walk her home and even invites him in but Doosik refuses. Just when he is about to leave, she holds him back and gives him her number (here we find out that her name is Choi Ji-eun), saying he should contact her and she’ll treat him to a meal again. However, Doosik says that he’s busy and might not have time.
A flashback follows during which it is revealed that Lee Youngsoo has actually given Ji-eun money to seduce Doosik, record all their conversations, and even take pictures …

[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h1″ looks_like=”h4″]Trivia[/x_custom_headline]

  • When Doosik talks about why he came to Korea, the speech bubbles read: “Ah~ When I was in the US blah blah,” “I caused trouble and blah blah,” “My mom blah blah,” “The usual stuff blah blah,” “Pitiful shit blah blah that’s why I came here.”
  • In the flashback, Youngsoo says to Ji-eun: “Go and badmouth me or something, do whatever it takes to seduce him.” So Ji-eun tells Doosik that the reason she left Youngsoo is because “He has a small one,” something Doosik finds hilarious.
This chapter’s final image shows Youngsoo (visibly pissed off) listening to the recording’s part where Ji-eun says: “He has a small one.”
  • Ji-eun uses “the usual” seduction techniques with Doosik: acting weak, making use of etiquette (“I bought food so you buy drinks!”), compliments (“You’re cool, young but commendable.”), pretending to be drunk (“So please take me home”), clinging onto him, inviting him in (“Do you want to eat ramyeon?”), sweet talk (aka aegyo: “I just want to be with you a bit longer ..”). Still, Doosik doesn’t seem very interested.
  • Youngsoo promised Ji-eun 500,000 won every time she meets up with Doosik and 2 million if she manages to take him to her place (which probably implies sleeping with him).

Move The Crowd

[Recap] Move The Crowd – Chapters 17-18

Read my recap of hiphop webtoon Move The Crowd’s chapters seventeen and eighteen.

[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h1″ looks_like=”h4″]인맥힙합 (3+4) (Connections Hiphop (3+4))[/x_custom_headline]

Don Mills reminds Deepflow where they met before and the latter finally remembers him.
Back to the present and the main character. Doosik is doing his job as a bartender, still blaming Skratch for failing to get the job as a “host MC”. As the two are fighting, they notice a guy who lies to a girl about being close to Vasco just to impress her. Skratch says that in his opinion that kind of people are the worst and that they are doing what’s called “connections hiphop”, claiming they know some famous rapper to be popular. When Doosik asks him what “connections hiphop” is, he replies: “Someone who is f*cking unskilled, knows a shit load of rappers and shows off with that.”
Back at home, Doosik thinks about those words and realizes that Skratch is right. Knowing many famous rappers doesn’t mean that Doosik himself will get some of their fame too. He is determined to do his thing until he is acknowledged and decides to make a mixtape.
We see 2SIK recording his mixtape and then going out to distribute it. In the midst of doing so, he meets Don Mills …

Doosik greets Don Mills and hands him his mixtape. Don Mills is reminded of his own efforts in the past and greets Doosik friendly, even asking for his number to give him feedback. As he is being exited and happy about the incident, Doosik sees Jiyun with another guy who he suspects to be her boyfriend. However, he tells himself that he shouldn’t be minding a girl and goes off to distribute more of his CDs.
As he tries to distribute them in front of a concert venue, he sees BewhY, Microdot, and Black Nut who are being followed by a huge crowd. 2SIK dreams of becoming as popular as them one day and has to shake off sudden thoughts of Jiyun and her possible boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Chulmin finds out everything about Doosik and becomes visibly angry when he hears that Doosik is acquainted with Jiyun.
2SIK who is still distributing his CDs is getting more and more pissed off with those people who leech off famous rappers’ fame and swears to himself that he shall never become like them.
At Vismajor’s studio, Don Mills and Deepflow listen to 2SIK’s mixtape and like his fresh style, so Don Mills messages 2SIK …

At the end of chapter eighteen, the authors have left the following note:

Everyone probably has their own criteria, but in our opinion there currently are no rappers who are doing “connections hiphop”. We think this way because unskilled rappers who have made themselves known thanks to connections shine briefly like a mirage and then disappear.

  • 2SIK’s lyrics go: 2sik gon expose ya motherfuckin posers | You guys who are getting beat all the time are no bulldozer | Hol’ up, this is not a diss against Swings | but directed at the retards who copy his song! | You’re disgusting and uncool. Getting tattoos and grills | and want to be like Chicanos or blacks, | who are you to represent Korean hiphop, asshole? Instead of your Supreme tee | which you bough with your mom’s money, | the smell of my plain Giordano tee, check that | It’s the pheramones which gay assholes | who think that the stage is a fashion show will never have | The women who smell them are naked before they know / ay~ wussup!
  • A fangirl asks Black Nut if he has a girlfriend to which he replies with “No,” and thinks “For me, there is only Beenzino!”
  • Doosik has saved Don Mills’ contact details under “Don Mills-hyung“.
