Inside RAPBEAT 2026: Keith Ape’s Return, nafla’s Surprise Appearance, and More

HiphopKR was on site at RAPBEAT 2026 in Seoul, where Keith Ape and Bryan Chase closed with “It G Ma,” nafla made a rare surprise appearance, and OKASHII’s custom Rolex moment became one of the weekend’s biggest talking points.

RAPBEAT 2026 took place June 20 and 21 at Oil Tank Culture Park in Seoul, bringing two days of Korean hip-hop, R&B, K-pop crossover, and label-stage energy to Mapo-gu. HiphopKR was on site throughout the weekend, covering a lineup that included ZICO, Jay Park, Lil Moshpit, Dynamicduo, BewhY, pH-1, JOOHONEY, C JAMM, RIIZE, TAEYONG, Simon Dominic, JUSTHIS, BILL STAX, Kid Milli, OKASHII, H1GHR MUSIC, and The Cohort.

One of the most talked-about sets came from The Cohort, with Keith Ape and Bryan Chase appearing together on Day 2. Keith Ape’s presence on a major Korean festival stage was notable in itself, especially given how rarely he has performed publicly in South Korea in recent years. With Bryan Chase beside him, the set doubled as a return to one of the most recognizable crews from Korean hip-hop’s mid-2010s internet era.

The pair closed their set with “It G Ma,” the 2015 anthem that still looms over Korean hip-hop’s international breakthrough. Released with JayAllDay, Loota, Okasian, and KOHH, the track became one of the first Korean rap records to break widely outside of Korea without moving through the traditional K-pop system. It travelled through YouTube, rap blogs, reaction videos, and Western media coverage, introducing many overseas listeners to The Cohort and to a louder, stranger, more chaotic side of Korean rap. A decade later, hearing it at RAPBEAT was a reminder of how much history is packed into that record.

Jay Park and Lil Moshpit’s stage also gave the weekend one of its biggest surprise moments. nafla appeared as a guest, drawing an immediate reaction from the crowd. His public appearances have been limited in recent years, which made the moment stand out beyond the usual festival guest cameo. For longtime Korean hip-hop fans, nafla stepping back onto that kind of stage carried its own weight.

POV Music also had a memorable weekend. During Kid Milli and OKASHII’s appearance, OKASHII received custom iced-out Rolex watches created by David Avalon, better known as Davidofkorea. It was a flashy moment, but it also matched the image POV Music has been building: high-fashion references, expensive taste, and a crew identity that feels as visual as it is musical. In a weekend filled with established names, the watch presentation still managed to cut through because it was specific to their world.

Across both days, RAPBEAT’s lineup showed how wide the Korean hip-hop ecosystem has become. Dynamicduo, BewhY, Simon Dominic, JUSTHIS, BILL STAX, and C JAMM brought veteran weight. H1GHR MUSIC delivered the kind of label-stage presence fans expect. RIIZE and TAEYONG pulled in a broader pop audience, while artists like Lil Moshpit, Kid Milli, and OKASHII kept the weekend connected to the younger, style-driven side of the scene.

For international fans who could not make it to Seoul, RAPBEAT 2026 offered a clear snapshot of where things stand right now. The weekend was not defined by one single headliner. It was the combination of moments that made it memorable: Keith Ape and Bryan Chase closing with a 2010s classic, nafla making a rare appearance, POV Music turning a stage moment into a statement piece, and a lineup that connected multiple generations of Korean music in one place.

RAPBEAT has always worked best when it feels like a meeting point for different corners of the scene. This year, that was exactly the case. Some fans came for the major names. Others came for the surprise guests, label sets, or the chance to see artists they rarely get to watch live. By Sunday night, RAPBEAT 2026 had given Korean hip-hop fans plenty to discuss, and international listeners a reason to keep an eye on what happened in Seoul over the weekend.
