R&B singer Sobae makes her debut with single and MV ‘Switch Up’

Future R&B artist Sobae has released her debut single and music video ‘Switch Up‘ today.

Joining artists like The Weeknd, Bryson Tiller, and Kehlani in the Future R&B scene, Sobae brings her own flair to the genre with her debut single.

Sobae is one of the first female Korean-American singer-songwriters in the genre. She demonstrates her songwriting skills on the track as she croons a neo-soul infused melody over a soft trap beat. The contrast between Sobae’s signature silky, seemingly effortless vocals and witty, attitude-filled lyrics are but one of the alluring aspects of the song. With an unconventional and colorful background leading up to her music career, Sobae is truly ready to “switch things up” in every sense of the word–from shaking up the Future R&B scene to leading what she calls an “Asian-American cultural movement.” The song is entirely in English.

Sobae’s debut song was composed and co-arranged by R&B singer Eddie Shin, who debuted in 2005 as “Eddie,” releasing one full-length album and three singles. He later was a member of the popular group Aziatix alongside rapper Flowsik.

Fun fact: In August this year, Sobae starred in Y-Sport’s ‘Phys Ed (Feat. Reddy)’ music video alongside Hi-Lite Records’ Yun B, who is her former middle school classmate.
