One of the more surprising albums in 2020 came from a young woman with a voice like aged whiskey. Yoojin Park, known more commonly by her stage name The Deep, has a voice that just catches you off guard. Unapologetically husky and full of old-school emotion. With her debut EP, Escape, fans of R&B from Korea were gifted something truly unique. A singer with true vocal grit. The Deep took some time to answer a few questions for us.

slchld releases debut album, ‘troubles’
Independent singer-songwriter slchld has released his long-awaited debut EP, ‘troubles‘, yesterday.
Vancouver-based artist slchld (read: seoulchild) has built himself a solid listener base with his incredible talent and emotional voice. Last year, he participated in singer JUNNY‘s mini album ‘Monochrome‘ and dropped his first mixtape, ‘emotions‘. This January he featured on Rheehab‘s double single ‘Toy‘.
Last month, slchld gave his debut with the single ‘as long as you’re okay‘, and followed it up with ‘sad love song (Feat. Rheehab)‘ and ‘backpack‘.
Already a month ago, the singer announced the release of his debut album, raising fans’ anticipation. Now, the EP is out with seven tracks produced by slchld himself, GILLA of thelostyouth, and Crack Bit.
You can find the album on various streaming portals, click here for the links!
The artist comments:
“It’s been a crazy ride. (damn cliché kyle)
I didn’t really think much about putting stuff on Spotify or anything like that until I told elijah about my broke problems when I was in Europe and he pointed me here.
It is an incredible pleasure to present you guys this EP. A lot of the themes and subjects in the project came from me self-loathing and doubting everything I do. I often scrapped a lot of tracks and was heavily anxious whilst making it. In some way, the tracks are fragments of what I’ve seen, or have lived through in others or myself. There is nothing too hype or hard-hitting in the EP so if that’s what you came for, I apologize.
Once again, I love you all, the support has been tremendous, from fans, family, and friends. Shout out to Crack Bit, MKSB, and Joecasidy for handling most of the production and my other half GILLA @gillatrack of thelostyouth. for the production on ‘prayer II’ and mastering my whole project.
Thank you.”

Holy Osa drops project album ‘Blu Scale’
American artist Holy Osa has just dropped an interesting project album that mixes Miami hiphop with Korean sounds, was recorded in both English and Korean, and for which he worked with popular Korean underground artists like Young Lion, OHIORABBIT, G.Nine, Crack Bit, and many more.
Enjoying the special vibe that Korean hiphop has, Miami-based artist Holy Osa decided to mix the sounds of his local hiphop with Korean ones, working with various Korean singers, rappers, and producers over a span of about five months.
The result is ‘Blue Scale‘, an entirely unique album with a crazy mix of sounds, languages, and styles. The ten tracks were produced by M-Piece, Porya, Sky.High, Crack Bit, and one by Holy Osa himself. They feature Rob Valentine (who is Holy Osa’s All Things Holy crew mate just like M-Piece and Porya), ROLLYBOI, $NOX, Teogold, G.Nine, Dopein, ₩here Am I, OHIORABBIT, and Young Lion, whose chemistry with Holy Osa can be admired on two whole tracks.
Holy Osa says he has learned a lot while working on this album; receiving inspiration from the Korean rappers, broadening his musical spectrum by trying out new things like brighter sounding music and lyric-driven tracks like ‘Set You Free’, ‘Mullayo’, or ‘Not a Friend’, and very importantly, making new friendships.
The artist is already planning another project album similar to this one in which he wants to rap even more in Korean-HiphopKR will keep you updated!
Now check out the music video for ‘Metro (Feat. Young Lion)’ and give the album a listen-you will especially not want to miss out on the outstanding ‘Set You Free’ which features Teogold, G.Nine (who was previously introduced in our Artist Spotlight series), and Dopein!
