JJANGYOU - KOKI7 (album cover)

JJANGYOU releases second full-length album, ‘KOKI7’

Rapper JJANGYOU has released his second full-length album today. ‘KOKI7‘ was produced by Jflow and features singer Minje.

JJANGYOU started off as a member of ILLAP, together with producer DOL. The duo released one album under Snacky Chan‘s Dynasty Muzik in 2014. In the following year, JJANGYOU joined rapper/producer Jflow and producer ARwwae to form WAVISABIROOM. The trio released three mini albums, two in 2015 and one, titled ‘VIBE‘, in 2017.
JJANGYOU dropped his own debut album, ‘JANGYOUSEOK’, independently in 2016, using the moniker “JangYouSeok.” In the same year he revealed Hukky Shibaseki’s remix of his track ‘Solji’.

All the while, JJANGYOU featured for artists like Futuristic Swaver, Hippy was Gipsy, TFO, Alshain, Eco Yard, and Masstige.

KOKI7

Today, the rapper’s second full-length album has come out, produced by his high school and Wavisabiroom mate Jflow.
The title is already full of meaning. For once, it is short for “Korean Kid.” Secondly, rearranging “코키,” Korean for “KOKI,” it becomes the “짱” (JJANG) of JJANGYOU. Finally, the “7” represents the album’s seven tracks and is also a “lucky seven.”

JJANGYOU thinks that most Korean children are carrying some kind of wounds rather than having had a happy childhood. He himself has bad memories due to his parents’ early divorce, and has processed them through his music as “a typical Korean kid.”

Even though JJANGYOU had to choose a title track for Korean music platforms, the album, in fact, has none: “If I decide on a title track, the listeners concentrate on that track and the others seem to disappear. So I’d like the title track of this album to be whichever track stays in the respective listener’s mind.”

You can preview the LP below; it is available on iTunes/Apple Music. Also scroll down to watch the music videos of tracks one to five!

Last but not least, some good news for fans of JJANGYOU: The artist wants to release more music soon and hinted at a comeback of Wavisabiroom.
