Choi Sam releases new digital single ‘Art’

Independent rapper Choi Sam has released a new digital single today in which she contemplates about the life as an ‘Art’ist.

Choi Sam released her first mixtape ‘3’ in 2012. She gave her official debut with the single ‘답’ (Answer) in 2014. Until now she has released seven mixtapes, three mini albums and a number of singles, most recently ‘F CODE‘ which was about mental illness.

In her latest single, the rapper describes the life of an artist in South Korea, the difficulties one has to face day in and day out. She also criticizes society, the government, and the entertainment scene.

“I’m busy living right now
It’s not my fault, it’s the money’s fault
It pains me that tomorrow is coming
Everyday I’m out of breath”

Singer-songwriter FADE releases mini album ‘Fade Some Noise’

Singer-songwriter FADE has released his first EP ‘Fade Some Noise‘ as well as the music video for the track ‘Keep Ballin’ (Feat. Bray, Kirina)’.

The album title expresses that the album contains FADE‘s very own “noise,” i.e. sounds and music.
The tracks clearly show the ten years of experience the artist has, as well as the effort he put in. With support from the band ‘Now Or Never’, the songs are of various genres from funk over R&B to hiphop.
Including the two pre-released singles ‘Keep Ballin’ (watch the music video below) and ‘Smoke On the Water‘, the album holds nine tracks. Producers Riby-J, C.why, and Joy Fluent participated, as well as artists Bray, Kirina, La.Q, Choi Sam, and Teth.

Tomorrow, August 18 at 7PM, FADE is holding an album release party at Musistance. Tickets can be purchased at the venue.

Teth releases first full-length album ‘TEXT 1’

Independent rapper Teth has released his first LP ‘TEXT 1’ today with support from singer NoeL and producers C.why, FADE, Riby-J, Lagoon, bzk, and Denzel O’mighty.

The main focus of ‘TEXT 1‘ are sincere and well-delivered lyrics that talk about Teth‘s personal life (he debuted in the hiphop scene later than others, at the age of thirty) and about his longing for and belief in the beautiful and good. The title track ‘알고 보면’ (lit.: as it turns out), a ratchet song, sends a message of love and peace. Including this, there are all in all twelve tracks, only the first one featuring singer NoeL (not to confuse with the rapper NO:EL). The participating producers are C.why, FADE, Riby-J, Lagoon, bzk, and Denzel O’mighty.

“I seriously pondered on, ‘Where am I? Who am I?’ I pursued concrete respect over unconditional love, meaning over fun, philosophy over entertainment. Just like everyone else, there was a time when I was intently absorbed into the question of ‘What is hiphop?’ For me rhymes are still espresso, flow is milk, and life is chocolate-do you wanna drink my rap mochaccino?”
