G2 - G2's Life, Pt. 2 (album cover)

G2 releases ‘G2’s Life, Pt. 2’ EP and MVs

G2 has released the second part of ‘G2’s Life‘ as well as two music videos off the mini album.

While ‘G2’s Life, Pt. 1‘ told the story of G2 crossing oceans from Korea to the US and back until he ended up making music, ‘G2’s Life, Pt. 2‘ is about the various people he has met and the changes in his daily life and thoughts.

A clear contrast to the emotional sounds from Part 1, this album contains heavy and dull sounds and strong rapping that express the mix of confidence and fear in G2’s mind. The lyrics talk about the reality in front of his eyes where everything is ruled by money and the feeling deep inside conflicting with this reality, as well as about his weak self that relies on his religious belief. Just like the pre-released ‘Hymn II’, the album’s other songs also made up of very basic hiphop sounds.

There is ‘Hymn II’, a jazzy boom bap track produced by UGP who is from Texas just like G2, ‘Bread’ with its Southern vibe featuring A.C.T. who was also active in Texas together with G2, ‘Bang’ which features the three Los Angeles-based musicians Bago, Los, and Dumbfoundead, and ‘Valley’ with its addictive hook by Boobie Lootaveli, the hope of Miami’s hiphop scene. While most tracks feature non-Korean artists as the great importance of the album was to produce as original hiphop sounds as possible, it also features Dok2 and Loopy whose music is very close to the original. G2 once again joined hands with Gray who produced the final track ‘Knockin’ at the Door’, dull drums and G2’s captivating voice are the perfect ending to this album.

Through the lyrics, G2 reveals his pessimistic and dark inner self without reserve, and speaks his mind about his real, anxious self in the midst of a keen competition. However, there are also lines like, “I feel like my name will soon become legendary” (Hymn II), “I’ll never take a break until I arrive at my destination” (Valley), and “A positive strength that helps me get up even when I fall” (Knockin’ at the Door) and these lines clearly show his passion and fighting spirit in regards to his life and future.

Young rapper G2 still has a long way ahead of himself and on this album you can hear about his fight, success, and ambition which he describes honestly and wittily.
