Skolor - Cities (cover art)

SKOLOR releases single ‘Cities (Feat. WEZ, MuSchiz) (Prod. by HYK2ST)’

Korean rappers SKOLOR and MuSchiz, as well as Japanese rapper WEZ got together on the track ‘Cities’ by Korean producer HYK2ST.

Japanese rapper WEZ has made himself known through Netflix’s reality series ‘Terrace House Aloha State’. Korean rapper SKOLOR released the single ‘EKJ‘ in February and has constantly been working with Japanese artists. MuSchiz (read: “muse kids”) released the single ‘Take ‘Em Back‘ together with producer DAX just four days ago.

Cities‘ is a ratchet track but with a different rhythm and a main synth line that reminds of 808 and West Coast music.
“Let’s have fun, no matter where or when,” goes WEZ in the addictive hook.

DAX x MuSchiz - Take 'Em Back (cover art)

DAX x MuSchiz release single ‘Take ‘Em Back (Feat. SKOLOR, DJ Dept)’

Producer DAX, DJ Dept, and EDPD’s MuSchiz and SKOLOR have collaborated on the track ‘Take ‘Em Back‘. It was released yesterday.

This single is DAX and MuSchiz‘s second official collaboration. It is very different from their first joint single ‘No Other Way‘.

This track reproduces 90s hiphop sounds as the voices of MuSchiz and SKOLOR resound on a dull boom bap beat along with DJ Dept‘s scratching.

The single is available on Korean music portals, iTunes, and Spotify. A music video is coming up via EDPD’s YouTube channel.

Skolor - EKJ (album cover)

Skolor releases ‘EKJ’ featuring Jrappers ACE COOL, Jinmenusagi, Lui Hua

Rapper Skolor and producer HYK2ST (read: hyuk-east) of EDPD Records have released a new digital single and music video.

The title ‘EKJ‘ stands for ‘いい感じ(read: ee kan-gee, or colloquially: eh kan-gee) which means ‘to feel good’ or ‘cool.’ In the track, all four rappers rap in Japanese about their idea of EKJ.
Skolor was inspired by the bridge of Jpop group Morning Musume’s ‘Love Revolution 21‘, where the phrase “choh choh choh ee kan-gee” (超超超いい感じ; lit.: feeling super super super good) is repeated.

As for the featured Japanese rappers, Jinmenusagi has released several albums and is famous for tracks like ‘TOKYO TOWN (feat. Y’s)‘. ACE COOL is part of the label ‘DREAM BOY’ lead by KEN THE 390, has released four free albums and is currently actively performing at live venues. Lui Hua released a mini album in December.

The music video for ‘EKJ’ was directed by Skolor and filmed by Myeongjong Kim in Asakusa, Tokyo.
