CJ E&M Music Performance Division Acquires ‘Hi-Lite Records’
CJ E&M Music Performance Division has acquired the hip-hop label ‘Hi-Lite Records.’
On the 16th, a representative from CJ E&M Music stated, “In order for the genre of hip-hop to grow and succeed long-term on a global scale, CJ E&M Music Performance Division and Hi-Lite Records have positively cooperated and arrived at this decision.”
‘Hi-Lite Records’ is a well-known label in the underground hip-hop scene, credited for their authentic sound and artists such as the label’s representative Paloalto, B-free, Huckleberry P, and Reddy.
Through CJ E&M Music’s various influences in areas such as investment, marketing, and global networking, it hopes to provide ‘Hi-Lite Records’ with the resources and support to steadily run its label and focus on producing music.
Through this acquisition, the label plans on continuing to focus on hip-hop and diverse sounds.
CJ E&M Music’s Division Head Suk-joon Ahn stated, “With a limited variety of genres in this country’s music industry, it is urgent that a diversity of genres be made available to listeners. There is great potential in a skilled hip-hop record label such as ‘Hi-Lite Records’ to revamp Korea’s music industry.”
Ahn added, “We will do our best to support ‘Hi-Lite Records’ in progressing and reaching its full potential in the future as a label that becomes well-known and respected both nationally and globally.”
