I.F return with ‘Opening Ceremony (Feat. Verbal Jint, MC Meta, LOCO)’

“Yesterday’s memories meet today and sing of tomorrow.” BIZNIZ and nuck return as Infinite Flow (I.F) with a new digital single under BrandNew Music. ‘Opening Ceremony‘ features rappers Verbal Jint, MC Meta, and LOCO.

Starting out in 1999 as four university students making music together, Infinite Flow debuted in 2002 with two members: BIZNIZ (at the time under the moniker “Goliath Monster”) and nuck. The duo released two singles and two full-length albums, then disbanded in 2007, both rappers going their own way.
Three years ago, they reunited for the single ‘Been A Long Time’ which was released under BrandNew Music, BIZNIZ’s label. The song featured Junggigo, who first debuted on a song of I.F’s, and DJ Soulscape, the main producer of the duo’s first LP.

Today, I.F released a brand new single. With MC Meta and Verbal Jint, it features two artists that have worked with the duo since their beginning. Meanwhile, BrandNew Music revealed a making-of video, in which LOCO pronounces himself an I.F fan. Watch the video below (Korean subtitles only)!

I.F’s new single is available on iTunes/Apple Music.

Jindotgae x WILLYEOM - GOOD IS BAD (album cover)

Jindotgae and WILLYEOM release project album ‘GOOD IS BAD’

Rappers Jindotgae and WILLYEOM have released their project album ‘GOOD IS BAD’ with MC Meta, Los, and Hash Swan today, as well as the music video of the title track ‘XXXL FUTURE’.

For the last two years, Jindotgae has been working hard as an independent artist, releasing his underrated ‘Rabies’ series. He now joined hands with WILLYEOM who debuted just last month with the single ‘뉴욕행 (N.Y.C.)‘ which was produced by Dakshood of Krosshartz.
On January 1st, Jindotgae and WILLYEOM pre-released the single ‘YAY‘.

This project album is made up of five tracks. The featured artists are Ambition Musik’s Hash Swan, Korean hiphop’s old hand MC Meta, and Los who recently joined Ghood Life Crew.
The title track’s music video was directed by Errday who is known for the music videos ‘DDAL-GI SWAG‘ and San E‘s ‘Mohae‘.

The album was born with the questions “What is good and what is bad?” and “Who determines this?” Thinking about clichés and classics, the result is that any album can sound good to one person while it can sound bad to someone else. In other words, ‘GOOD IS BAD‘.

Next, the two artists pondered on how to express this phrase through music and came to the conclusion that they had to break the mold. Something that is in a way a cliché but that not anyone can easily pull off. Thus, each track on this album lets you hear different rap styles, tones, and atmospheres, and the participating artists were invited to ‘break the mold’ with the two rappers.
Exclamations like “That was unexpected!” or “This doesn’t make sense!” could be heard as work progressed. Jindotgae and WILLYEOM replied to these with: “You probably think that way because we’ve escaped the frame of what you call ‘good’. However, that ‘good’ can become ‘bad’ to anyone at any time.”
The two artists worked hard to make their album consistent throughout, not only the music but also the artwork and videos.

Someone might find this album good, someone else might find it bad. However, Jindotgae and WILLYEOM do not care at all, because ‘GOOD IS BAD’.

In the following weeks, Jindotgae and WILLYEOM will be holding free showcases in Daegu (January 27), Busan (February 3), and Seoul (February 10). The exact locations and times will be revealed via SNS.

Everyone's Mic Oncast (poster)

Everyone’s Mic goes online as “Everyone’s Mic Oncast”

Everyone’s Mic will become an online contest, which means that international fans can enjoy it too from now on as “Everyone’s Mic Oncast.”

The entire contest will be organized via Facebook. As usual, anyone can participate. There are no restrictions whatsoever, anyone of any age can participate, alone or in teams. The videos can be of any length, as long as they show off the contestant(s) rap.

There will be two preliminary rounds. First of all, contestants upload their self-filmed videos to Everyone’s Mic’s Facebook page. Everyone who watches can become a judge: each “thumbs up” gives the contestant two points while every “thumbs down” loses them one point. Contestants may share their videos and promote themselves as much as they want.
After each preliminary round, four contestants (hereafter: teams; may also refer to just one person) will be chosen. In addition, Garion will choose two more teams, each from one of the preliminary rounds. This means that ten teams will be in the finals.

For the first round of the finals, the ten teams will all be filmed at a studio. Those videos will again be uploaded to Facebook and judged in the same way as for the preliminaries, with the exception that the user votes only count 50%, the other 50% are made up by the judges’ scores. Five teams move on from this round.

The very final round will be a live performance. The voting depends for 60% on the audience and for 40% on the judges. A Facebook live stream will capture this final round. However, online viewers will not be able to vote. This is a precaution to avoid technical problems or bad sound transmission to influence the voting.

International fans are definitely able to participate as judges but the promotional text does not explicitly mention whether people living outside of Korea can participate as contestants. So if you’re thinking of participating from abroad, you might want contact Everyone’s Mic on Facebook. Also, consider that you would have to be in South Korea for the finals.

Dates:

1st preliminary round: from September 20 until October 9
2nd preliminary round: from October 14 until October 29

Prizes:

1st place: 3,000,000 Won
2nd place: 1,000,000 Won
3rd place: 500,000 Won

Garion - 금기어 (album cover)

Garion release new single ‘금기어’

The title of MC Meta and Naachal‘s final single of 2016 translates to ‘taboo words’.

The track was produced by Deepfry who last worked with the duo for their 15-years-anniversary album. Sometimes straightforward, sometimes sarcastically, the two rappers tackle the topics money and fame, as well as the negative energy in the rap game.

This new single is certainly raising the bar for Garion‘s new album in 2017.

Executive Producer: Noh Hallyang aka MAAcho
Produced by Deepfry
Lyrics by MC Meta, Naachal
Recorded, mixed & mastered by Kim ‘K-Star’ Jaehong @ Lighted Theater
Management: Han Sungjin
