YunB drops first full-length album ‘S.O.S.’ and ‘Memphis/Al Capone’ MV

Hi-Lite Records’ talented artist YunB has released his first full-length album today. ‘S.O.S.‘ stands for ‘The Society of the Spectacle‘ and features B-Free, Jeremy Que$t, Ami, EK, Khundi Panda, JUSTHIS, Okasian, Paloalto, SUMIN, LAKO, and Reddy.

New York-born artist YunB joined Hi-Lite Records in 2016. His debut album ‘YunB‘ came out last year in June. Recently, he has pre-released the music video for ‘Clockwork‘ and the single and music video ‘Yellow Cab‘ off this LP.

The album title was inspired by philosopher Guy Debord‘s book of the same name (original French title: La Société du Spectacle) which left a deep impression on YunB when he read it in university.

While he produced all but one track himself, YunB got himself sturdy support, first and foremost from his label mates Paloalto and Reddy, but also from ex-Hi-Lite members B-Free and Okasian. Several of the tracks feature EK of Most Badass Asian, who has constantly been rapping alongside YunB. Singer SUMIN, who already featured on YunB’s debut EP, lend him her voice again. Two songs feature American vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music producer Ami Kim.

SuperFreak Records release ‘FreakTape Vol. 2’

SuperFreak Records have dropped their mixtape ‘FreakTape Vol. 2‘ yesterday. It includes eight tracks by artists like Jinbo, Viann, Khundi Panda, and Beautiful Disco, as well as by two newcomers!

Did you know that SuperFreak Records‘ motto is “Thinking and acting differently than others–uniquely and extraordinarily”? The label has constantly been searched for shining talent that others might have easily overlooked.
As a result, they have CAFE TAPE and OFFTHE Studio. VIANN and Khundi Panda‘s ‘Reconstruction‘ LP has been nominated as the Best Rap & Hiphop Album at the 15th Korean Music Awards. Jinbo has been contributing to K-pop albums that are worldwide hits. His ‘KRNB2‘ album connects the past and present of Korean music, and at the same time features many great artists. Beautiful Disco has become an expert in beats and cassette tapes, receiving invitations to the US. SAILLI released the album ‘The Light’ and has been active as part of the duo COCOFLA with Q The Trumpet. Meanwhile, DAUL is the undisputed star of SOAP SEOUL. Fallens, Rarebirth, and Aezik are also doing great with their respective work. The label is becoming more and more special with artists like these.

This mixtape, a continuation of the label’s 2016 ‘FreakTape Vol. 1’, features two new voices:

On one hand, there is Secret Man who is currently studying Nuclear Engineering. Apparently, he isn’t good at keeping secrets, despite his name. He gives 70s’ soul music a Korean touch. His warm and dreamy voice over Beautiful Disco’s track ‘Flyingoversummerland’ is a must listen.

On the other hand, there is DAHEE who has been studying at the Berklee College of Music. She saved SuperFreak Records from having male and Korea-based members only. Listen to her singing ‘Good Morning’ with a voice as fresh as a diamond!

Viann X Khundi Panda drop music video for ‘원시인 (Primitive Being)’

THECUT directed producer Viann and rapper Khundi Panda’s latest music video ‘Primitive Being‘ off their ‘Reconstruction’ LP.

In November last year, SuperFreak Records producer Viann and indie rapper Khundi Panda released their joint full-length album ‘Reconstruction‘. The album’s producers are THECUT and SuperFreak Records CEO Jinbo. The featured artists include Jeremiah Jae, as well as singers Horim and Sumin.
With the release of the album, the music video for the track ‘Sinkhole‘ was revealed. You can also watch music videos for ‘Ms. 808‘, ‘Foreignhub.co.kr‘, and ‘RANDOMCALL‘. All but the latter were directed by THECUT.

On the LP’s sixth track, Khundi Panda touches on the subject of greed and instant gratification versus his philosophy of building value from the ground up to sustain through time. The lyric-driven music video came out today. Watch it above and read our translation of the lyrics here.
