This is the second edition of the series. If you missed the last edition, check it out here.
HiphopLE has begun releasing a documentary series entitled Korean Hiphop in LA (KHILA). The director of the series, Nate Dogg a.k.a. Chris Choi, gives an explanation of the project. “This documentary #KHILA is about three rising Korean rappers of the LA/Korean hip-hop scene. We, #HiphopLE, followed Loopy, Nafla, and Sikboy over the course of six months.“ He also let us know that they’ve recently started providing English subtitles for the editions. HiphopKR will be assisting in providing coverage of the project during the next few weeks as the English translations become available.
Although the three artists around whom the documentary centers all started their work within the LA/Korean hiphop community, the impact they have had has reached overseas and drawn attention from those on the Korean peninsula. Recently Nafla traveled to Seoul to perform with Owen Ovadoz and meet with several other artists including Dynamic Duo before returning to LA this past week. There has been word of a possibility of another trip to Korea from other artists in LA in the near future. Stay tuned to get the latest news on their progress and upcoming performances.
