OJ - Pulp Fiction (cover)

Owen Ovadoz and Joe Rhee release single album ‘Pulp Fiction’

After the mini album ‘OJ’ in May, Owen Ovadoz and Joe Rhee have released their second collaboration project titled ‘Pulp Fiction’.

The special thing about this album is that it has been made within the short time of one day. The title track ‘내버려둬’ [Let Me Be] is a disco track with a prominent funky bass. The second track ‘Summer Time Vibe’ is a lively trap song.

Owen Ovadoz and Joe Rhee commented on this single album as follows: “Each of us has their own road to take but we’ve made these songs real quickly in the sense of taking a short break before we keep walking.”

Owen Ovadoz Documentary, “Underground with Owen Ovadoz”

For anyone following Korean music, hip hop has been an absolute trend and boom in the last couple of years. Trends are great for cultural development, however, they are often driven without any filters or quality control. It’s amazing to see hip hop grow in Korea, whether it is underground or mainstream. We are seeing an exponential growth in hip hop releases, but the real question is: can they be considered as good music? There is an emergence of many young artists coming to life but do they actually understand the spirit of hip hop or are they simply jumping on the trend-boat to make quick dough?
