Verbal Jint - Self-Suggestion (cover art)

Verbal Jint drops single ‘Self-Suggestion (Feat. SUPERBEE)’

On short notice, rapper Verbal Jint has released a brand new single today titled ‘Self-Suggestion (자기암시)’.

This year, Verbal Jint has been busy featuring on other artists’ songs, and at the beginning of the month he performed twice in Vancouver. Yesterday, he suddenly announced this new single.

After ‘그것이알고싶다‘ in January, ‘Self-Suggestion’ is only the second single he releases this year. His previous release was an acapella album.

For this track, Verbal Jint worked with his OVC crewmate Kricc and with SUPERBEE of Ghood Life Crew. Once again, the lyrics are self-reflective:

“My Bentley is in the garage,
I rarely drive it but I haven’t sold it either
You wanna know why?
In order to remember that mistake I made”

In case fans are wondering why he is releasing another track like this, he raps:

“Still I gotta do it my way
Sorry, I can only spit lyrics like this,
a mood like this,
on the vibe Kricc gave me

See, when I stand in front of the mirror, this is what comes to mind
Yeah I’m going through the days of suffering
I need self-suggestion”

Verbal Jint also let fans know that he is in the finishing stages of a mini album, possibly the second part of ‘Go Hard‘. It is not clear whether this single is a pre-release off the album or not.

FLIK - Kaleidoscope (album cover)

R&B duo FLIK release first full-length album ‘Kaleidoscope’

It’s here! Loki and WONDERLUST, who are alternative R&B duo FLIK, have released their first full-length album ‘Kaleidoscope’.

The name FLIK stands for “freaky life in kaleidoscope.” The duo is made up of singer Loki and producer WONDERLUST.

Their first full-length album ‘Kaleidoscope’ is made up of ten tracks, including the pre-released ‘Hard-Boiled but Half-Baked‘, ‘Swim Good‘, and ‘Think About It‘. The songs are variations of the R&B genre, which was mixed for example with trap or house music. A dreamy synthesizer sound is the central theme of the album.

There are two title tracks. ‘Up All Night’ with a faster groove for which Patrick Cho, who has often worked with neo soul musician Rose, played the guitar. ‘Sweet Big Blue’ is an early 2000s-style R&B song, similar to The Underdogs or Bryan-Michael Cox’s music. It has a strong 808 drum and contrastingly sweet lyrics about spending time with one’s lover.
