nafla - ANGELS (album cover)

nafla releases first full-length album ‘ANGELS’

MKIT RAIN’s nafla has released his first LP ‘ANGELS’ today with help from his label mates and from producers Cloudy Beats, GroovyRoom, Kim Park Chella, etc.

Since his debut single ‘Dopeboy’ in 2016 and his first mini album ‘new blood’, nafla has been receiving attention in the Korean hiphop scene.

Up to this point, the rapper has pre-released the singles ‘Jail‘ and ‘Dime‘. Now, the whole full-length album ‘ANGELS‘ is out. Its focus lies on 2000’s hiphop that can be enjoyed at ease. nafla participated not only in writing the lyrics and composing the tracks, but also in the production of the album, the sound design, and the visual direction.
His MKIT RAIN Records label mates Loopy, BLOO, and Owen Ovadoz helped out with the featurings. Furthermore, a variety of producers contributed to the album, e.g. Cloudy Beats, Gan Vogh, Kim Park Chella, and GroovyRoom.

From ‘Jungle’, which kicks off with striking drums and rap, to ‘Kickback’ and ‘Loosies’ with their LA vibes, the West Coast hiphop track ‘Deadtree’, the 2000’s-style track ‘Fly High’, and the rough Eastern hiphop sounds in ‘Jail’ and ‘Gra Gra’, nafla made sure to integrate his own styles and stories into the music.

The album can be previewed on Korean music portals.

Loopy, nafla - 인터넷 전쟁 (cover art)

Loopy and nafla release single and MV ‘Internet War’

Kim Park Chella has remade Seo Taiji’s ‘Internet War’ together with MKIT RAIN Records’ Loopy and nafla for Seo Taiji’s 25th anniversary project ‘TIME : TRAVELER’.

Seo Taiji released ‘인터넷 전쟁 (Internet War)‘ in 2000 as part of his 6th full-length album, and now, 17 years later, it is being remade by Kim Park Chella, Loopy and nafla.
At the time of the original song’s release, social problems because of the Internet were on the rise. The song took a critical look at the issues and their harmful effects.

The remake maintains the guitar riff and dynamics of the original track, also most of the lyrics, only adding Loopy and nafla’s verses which concentrate on the problem of the internet that still persists: haters.
With rough rapping, an aggressive and overwhelming delivery, the two rappers make their message even sharper. It feels as if Seo Taiji declared a war in 2000 that is still going on 17 years later.

Loopy and nafla have established their places in the Korean hiphop scene with a die-hard fanbase, going back and forth between South Korea and the USA. With their participation in this remake, the two have not only broadened their musical spectrum, they have also proven their potential and possibilities.

‘Internet War’ is the fourth song remade for Seo Taiji’s 25th anniversary project ‘TIME : TRAVELER‘ where young musicians remake Seo Taiji’s hit songs like time travelers bringing presents from the future.
