Errday - 28 (album cover)

Errday releases second mini album ’28’

28-year-old rapper Errday has released his second mini album today. The ten tracks were produced by C.Why.

After two mixtapes, Errday dropped his debut single ‘Nodap (Part 1)’ in 2015. Besides more singles, he has released one full-length album and one mini album, both in 2015. He is best known for his recent collaborations with Wet Boyz and ZENE THE ZILLA, including their iconic ‘DDAL-GI SWAG‘, for which he directed the music videos.

In his second mini album, Errday expresses all the feelings and difficult situations he has experienced in his 28 years of life: feeling lost about decisions, seeing time pass in the faces of his parents, evolving emotions, following through with his beliefs, allowing himself a break, battling mental issues, and finally chasing his dreams. Errday is certain that listeners will be able to relate to his stories.

Until the album is available on international streaming sites, you can preview it on Korean music portals. For more of Errday’s music, check out his SoundCloud and YouTube channels (links below)!

Wet Boyz X Errday X ZENE THE ZILLA - GA ZU A (cover art)

Wet Boyz, Errday, and ZENE THE ZILLA drop joint track and MV ‘GA ZU A’

After their hit track ‘DDAL-GI SWAG’, Ni Ni and Homeboy of Wet Boyz, Errday, and ZENE THE ZILLA collaborated once again on a new track and music video titled ‘GA ZU A‘.

Almost exactly one year ago, Wet Boyz, Errday, and ZENE THE ZILLA dropped ‘DDAL-GI SWAG‘ (lit.: strawberry swag) which made waves thanks to its catchy hook and unusual music video. The video style was so popular that Errday created similar music videos for San E, and Jindotgae X Willyeom.

The four artists got together for a new hit that came out two days ago. The title “가즈아” is slang for “가자,” which means “Let’s go!” and is read “gaja” (also romanized as “gaza”).

Check out the track on SoundCloud (above) and the music video below!

Jindotgae x WILLYEOM - GOOD IS BAD (album cover)

Jindotgae and WILLYEOM release project album ‘GOOD IS BAD’

Rappers Jindotgae and WILLYEOM have released their project album ‘GOOD IS BAD’ with MC Meta, Los, and Hash Swan today, as well as the music video of the title track ‘XXXL FUTURE’.

For the last two years, Jindotgae has been working hard as an independent artist, releasing his underrated ‘Rabies’ series. He now joined hands with WILLYEOM who debuted just last month with the single ‘뉴욕행 (N.Y.C.)‘ which was produced by Dakshood of Krosshartz.
On January 1st, Jindotgae and WILLYEOM pre-released the single ‘YAY‘.

This project album is made up of five tracks. The featured artists are Ambition Musik’s Hash Swan, Korean hiphop’s old hand MC Meta, and Los who recently joined Ghood Life Crew.
The title track’s music video was directed by Errday who is known for the music videos ‘DDAL-GI SWAG‘ and San E‘s ‘Mohae‘.

The album was born with the questions “What is good and what is bad?” and “Who determines this?” Thinking about clichés and classics, the result is that any album can sound good to one person while it can sound bad to someone else. In other words, ‘GOOD IS BAD‘.

Next, the two artists pondered on how to express this phrase through music and came to the conclusion that they had to break the mold. Something that is in a way a cliché but that not anyone can easily pull off. Thus, each track on this album lets you hear different rap styles, tones, and atmospheres, and the participating artists were invited to ‘break the mold’ with the two rappers.
Exclamations like “That was unexpected!” or “This doesn’t make sense!” could be heard as work progressed. Jindotgae and WILLYEOM replied to these with: “You probably think that way because we’ve escaped the frame of what you call ‘good’. However, that ‘good’ can become ‘bad’ to anyone at any time.”
The two artists worked hard to make their album consistent throughout, not only the music but also the artwork and videos.

Someone might find this album good, someone else might find it bad. However, Jindotgae and WILLYEOM do not care at all, because ‘GOOD IS BAD’.

In the following weeks, Jindotgae and WILLYEOM will be holding free showcases in Daegu (January 27), Busan (February 3), and Seoul (February 10). The exact locations and times will be revealed via SNS.

All tracks composed and arranged by JA
(Italic texts in brackets are temptative English translations of the Korean titles)

As part of Salon 01 and Overclass, JA has once been one of the most acclaimed producers of South Korea’s hiphop scene. He made himself known through full-length albums like ‘Double Feature’ or ’90’ for which he was praised by critics and fans. Furthermore, he collaborated with artists like Swings, Verbal Jint, Junggigo, Basic, Simon Dominic, Beenzino, etc. and was also acknowledged amongst musicians.
However, his “home” Salon 01 (살롱01) disbanded and the hiphop scene was in a difficult situation as the online music market grew and everything became more short-lived. The reason why the names of second-generation Khiphop crews and groups like Soul Company, Big Deal, Jiggy Fellaz or Overclass cannot be heard these days anymore is also related to that situation. Artists who could not adjust to the changes of the music industry either quit making music or tried to make their way in the industry doing a different type of work, and others who wanted to keep making music prepared themselves for the new concepts that were to come.
That was also the time when a personal change found JA. Fed up of seeing the people around him insist more than necessary on one music genre and culture and thus getting buried in that small world, he did not want to confine himself to the small hiphop scene but make a variety of experiences. He studied the necessary subjects and learned some hobbies. He then taught students and formed a non-hiphop indie group with which he tried a new music style. As he was interested in and studied the music business as well, he joined a business and tried himself at managing. During that time, he did not release any music. Since the remix album ‘Shining Moments Director’s Cut‘ from 2012, not one album by JA has come out.
Those times during which he studied and made experiences were precious and very worthwile to him. However, he noticed that his yearning for making music and performing music, which he has had since a young age, would not stop. He needed an activity to help him resolve pent-up feelings, just like before. The process of listening to sound, refining it, combining it, studying it, releasing it, etc. were still JA’s work that brings him happiness. Therefore, he decided to resume his activities as the hiphop producer JA.
His comeback album that was born this way is named ‘Lost & Found’, implying that he is looking for the lost time and songs from those three years. He did not put his name on the line, but some of the tracks he has made for others artists back in the day are included in the album, re-interpreted, also as remixes.
Starting from JA’s ace, his basic style, the album includes a broad spectrum of hiphop that is relatively diverse for the narrow hiphop genre. As this is a completely new album, you can find the names of rookie rappers in it as well: QM, Errday, Syler, Debi, Roydo, and more.
During the three to four years that JA has not been active in the hiphop scene, South Korea’s hiphop genre has in a sense become a trend through ‘Show Me The Money’. Back then during the second generation of Korean hiphop, JA released a great amount of music and it is expected that he will do the same from now on as well. Look forward to find out if he can make a name for himself again in this changed environment.
