Yonko has released his first EP ‘TIIE’ which conveys the artist’s idea that imagining something means it will come true.
The album is made up of eight tracks, including the pre-released ‘Turtle‘ and ‘? (Question Mark)‘.
In the first track, ‘Turtle’, Yonko raps about the road that is lying ahead of him. It is different from the following tracks which are all about love. From ‘Question Mark’ to ‘Fuckboi’, diverse feelings caused by love are addressed: excitement, joy, confidence, jealousy, worry, and sadness. The bonus track however, ‘Tell ‘Em’, is of the trap soul genre and was entirely made by Yonko. It has a wholly different tone than its predecessors.
Yonko’s unique voice and melody add to his sophisticated lyrics. This lets him create new types of R&B and soul songs. Still, he was influenced by hiphop artists. This is why his melodies sound like singing and rap at the same time. He even reinterpreted the so-called mumble rap, trying a new form of vocalization.
The album’s overall topic is “feelings and actions derived from love.” Yet, by using nonstandard vocabulary, Yonko succeeded in creating music that is far from the common love songs.
