Soullette makes her debut with a beautiful song and music video.
Soullette returned to Korea after graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she came to like black music, especially soul. She learned the spirit and techniques of the genre and works hard to include it in her own music.
Together with singer-songwriter and producer T.E.T. who she met at college, Soullette created ‘I Wanna Make U Wonder‘, with which she is inviting you to a world of her very own music.
The song’s story begins with the childhood of a young girl.
Her mother used to tell her that the world was bright and beautiful and a fun place. So, the little girl always looked at the world with curiosity, thinking it was nothing but beautiful.
However, as the girl grew up, the world she saw with her own eyes was a very cold and scary place.
Searching for that beautiful, warm world her mother had told her of, the girl wanders around wondering where that world could be. (This is represented by the ‘hmm’ that is repeated in the hook.)
The girl could not help but abandon the innocence of her childhood and her dreams. She tries her best to live according to society’s standards.
In the end no matter how big one has grown, no matter how old one is, one should not forget one’s childishness and dreams. This is the song’s message. In the music video, these innocent feelings are represented by the teddy bear and the reality of the world by the glass of coins.
