SXSW 2019: Who We're Excited to See

SXSW Spotlight: Who We’re Excited to See

South by Southwest has invited a number of Korean hip-hop and R&B artists to spotlight. The likes of Epik High, MFBTY, and Crush have all left their unique stamp on the festival. In 2019, the range and diversity of hip-hop and R&B acts has only broadened. Here I give a sneak peek into who I’m really excited to see (and who you should probably check out as well).

DPR ‘2018 CTYL TOUR’ (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific)

Arts collective Dream Perfect Regime (DPR) is “Coming To You Live” to North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific starting in Vancouver on September 30. Find out how you can get your ticket to a city near you!

Dream Perfect Regime, DPR, is no stranger in the Korean hip-hop scene after creating their own wave in both visually and sonically since their debut in 2015. They are a collective that direct and produce various types of visual work and curate artists from different musical influences.

The creatives responsible for these works are rapper DPR LIVE, producer DPR Cream, and visual director Christian Yu. After the viral ‘Eung Freestyle‘, DPR LIVE made his debut with his first album titled Coming to You Live.  With this project, he was able to garner a larger following with the help of Korean hip-hop talents such as DEAN, Crush, Jay Park, Loco, and G2 among others; as well as the captivating visuals and production provided by Christian Yu and DPR Cream respectively. The collective finished off a very active 2017 with visual collaborations with YG’s Taeyang and a visual campaign for Nike alongside DPR LIVE’s sophomore EP titled Her, which reached #8 on Billboard’s World Album Chart.

DPR has not slowed down in 2018, with his digital single Action featuring AOMG’s GRAY, as well as the MV for his latest single ‘Playlist‘. They are continuing to deliver quality sounds and visuals, and will only grow as creators. To cap off the year DPR has announced their “Coming to You Live” World Tour which hits dates in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, proving that his appeal transcends the Korean scene.
