It’s once again en vouge to make lists of top rappers. This is a past time as old as pen and paper. People making lists of their favorite things, and in this case favorite MCs. However, I think the sudden resurgence of “Best MCs” lists in the past few months started after Jermaine Dupri‘s indictment of rappers, particularly female rappers, post-1995.
Dear Epik High, Thank You
As someone who writes a lot of critique, there are times when you just don’t know what to say. Words quite literally fail you. This is especially true for moments when an experience leaves you so utterly awe-inspired, so emotionally moved the prim professionalism of a music journalist seems petty. This is what happened to me following Epik High’s Austin stop of their North American tour. At times like these there’s really only one thing to say:

It wouldn’t be a stretch to call Epik High legends. For over 15 years, the hip-hop Renaissance Men have enraptured audiences with their alternative perspective of the genre. With a penchant for creating music that digs into the insecurities and frailties of human nature, Tablo, Mithra Jin, and Tukutz have paved the way for a generation of artists who express themselves without fear.
Following the release of their second EP, “sleepless in __________,” the trio have embarked on a world tour. Before their stop in Austin, TX, they took some time out to answer some questions for HiphopKR.
Epik High drops special music video ‘LOST ONE’ in collaboration with film ‘Forgotten’
Epik High released the special music video for ‘LOST ONE (feat. Kimg Jongwan of NELL).’ The track is a collaboration with Director Jang Hang Jun for his upcoming movie, ‘Forgotten.’
‘LOST ONE’ is the 10th track from Epik High’s latest LP release, ‘WE’VE DONE SOMETHING WONDERFUL.’ The music video features clips from the upcoming thriller, ‘Forgotten’ starring actor, Kang Haneul. ‘Forgotten’ tells the story of two brothers. The older brother (Kim Moo Yeol) gets kidnapped and loses his memory and so, the younger brother (Kang Haneul) looks into the mystery of the kidnapping.
Tablo’s lyrics describe a sense of longing and losing something precious. The director Jang Hang Jun chose this song for his upcoming movie due to beautiful lyrics written by Tablo directly and how this matches well with the emotions of his film.

Since 2000, the beginning period of K-HIPHOP, HIPHOPPLAYA started its operation. It has played an essential role as a bridge between musicians and hip-hop fans, by having 450 times of interviewing hip-hop musicians, 16,000+ news articles, 400 radio shows, 60 competitions for amateur musicians, and 60 times of hip-hop concerts.
Among those things, more than 300 teams of musicians honored the stage of HIPHOPPLAYA SHOW, which started in 2006, including Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Dok2, Beenzino etc, displaying special stages such as unusual collaboration stages, real instruments sound band sets to share the fever of hip-hop concert with fans.
