Damndef and Nopitchonair release single ‘국토횡단 RIDDIM’

| ,

Grime artist Damndef and producer Nopitchonair of Grack Thany have collaborated on the single ‘국토횡단 RIDDIM‘ (lit.: cross-country riddim).

Grime has seen a second renaissance in the last few years, and many are wondering about this genre whose roots are a bit different from hiphop.

In 2017, rapper Damndef and Nopitchonair of the sub-culture team Grack Thany want to answer this question with their music.

After a magnificent accordion intro that reminds of a war song comes a variation of Nopitchonair’s classic grime sounds. Those are topped by Damndef’s mocking but criticizing rap, perfectly conveying the cliches of many rappers in this scene. While it picks at them sharply, it still comes off as rather refreshing instead of uncomfortable.

As the title of this track suggests, the artists want to broaden their sub-culture from Seoul to Busan, spreading it far and wide. In order to do so, Damndef is currently working on a project involving both South Korean and international artists, and Nopitchonair has a compilation album with Grack Thany coming up on November 3.
