CHANGMO has released the first EP album since his debut, ‘돈 벌 시간 2’ (Time to Earn Money 2).
The EP was released today, not even five months since his fourth official mixtape ‘M O T O W N‘ came out, which he entirely wrote, produced, mixed and mastered himself. It is not a surprise that for this latest EP, he has once again done all the work on his own.
‘돈 벌 시간 2’ (Time to Earn Money 2) is the second part of his mixtape ‘돈 벌 시간’ (Time to Earn Money) which came out in 2013 and was well-received by fans, helping him establish his place in the scene. (The mixtape is still available for free download.) While the first part was about his lifestyle, vigor, and ambitions while living in the little village Deokso-ri, this second part is about his period of growth, him overcoming agony and pain after he left Deokso and went to Seoul. At the same time, you will notice that his music-making skills have improved rapidly.
With these five tracks, CHANGMO does not follow the trend but keeps pace with it. From the imposing sounding track one, over track three that features Don Mills who recently released the album ‘MEERAE’, over track four in which CHANGMO remarks “I’ve been playing the piano since I was five years old”, to track five which mixes Ratchet with Korean pop music.
It has been three years since CHANGMO’s debut. As an independant artist in the underground who has to stand his man, it might seem like he is walking a tough and long path. However, through that time he has been growing immensely and has finally released his first EP that announces a new start. He calmly says though, that now is only the beginning.
